About the GPI
Global Phytomedicine Institute
The Global Phytomedicine Institute (GPI) is a high impact collaborative initiative launched during the Global Health Catalyst summit at Harvard Medical School in 2019 to catalyze collaborations on medicinal plants for global health and development. This recognizes that medicinal plants are part of the healthcare system of over 80% of the world's population and must be taken into account in any global health efforts. The GPI was initially supported by a touch-down donation from NFL Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, major collaborations with industry and government leaders including the Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries of Jamaica the Honorable Audley Shaw. Today with the accelerating advances in AI and blockchain technology, the GPI has been transformed into a leading-edge platform for global collaboration and citizen science aligned with the model of the comprehensive care center in the cloud (C4) for advancing whole person health and economic development.
